The form of government in the Dominican Republic is the presidential republic, which patterns itself closely to that of the USA.

The Dominican constitution guarantees a free market economy, private property, and the protection of human rights.

The political system is stable.



The crime rate is relatively small. One can move safely also in the most outlying areas.

However, in tourist centers, one should pay attention and exercise normal cautionary measures.

No problems with racism exist.



A valid passport (with a validity of at least 6 months) is necessary, as well as a tourist card.

The card (US$ 10) is available upon arrival at the airport.



Some German newspapers and magazines are available in the Dominican Republic, although they are available in kiosks with some delay and are quite expensive.

One may view the German channels DW-tv and German TV.



There is a series of international private schools in the Dominican Republic, most of which are quite expensive. However, they offer an acceptable education standard for your children.

 All teachers are examined by the government and then transferred to the Dominican Republic.
